Frequently asked questions
How does the NutriMatch quiz work?
You answer a few questions about what you want to improve — energy, sleep, immunity, mood, and more. We match your answers to outcomes in the Examine.com evidence database and show you the supplements with the strongest scientific evidence for your situation, ranked by grade (A–C). The whole thing takes about two minutes.
What do the evidence grades A, B, and C mean?
The grades come from Examine.com, an independent research organisation with no funding from the supplement industry. Grade A means strong evidence from multiple well-designed human trials with consistent results. Grade B means good evidence from fewer or smaller studies. Grade C means limited, early-stage, or inconsistent research. We only show grades A–C — D and E are excluded from results.
Are these recommendations personalised to me?
Yes. Your quiz answers determine which outcomes we match against, so two people with different goals will see different supplements. Within those matches, ranking is based purely on evidence quality — not price, popularity, or any commercial relationship with supplement brands.
Is this medical advice?
No. NutriMatch provides evidence summaries to help you make informed decisions — not medical diagnoses or prescriptions. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or take prescription medication, consult a healthcare professional before starting any supplement.
Why do you link to iHerb?
iHerb is one of the largest and most established supplement retailers globally, ships to New Zealand and most countries, and stocks most of the supplements in our database. We link to them as an affiliate — if you buy after clicking through, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This commission is how NutriMatch stays free to use.
Is NutriMatch free to use?
Yes. The quiz and all results are completely free. No subscription, no paywall, no account required to see your recommendations.
Do I need to create an account to see my results?
No. You can complete the quiz and see your full results immediately without signing up. Creating an account lets you save your results and come back to them later.
What is Examine.com and why do you use it?
Examine.com is an independent, non-commercial research organisation that analyses human clinical trials on supplements and nutrition. They assign evidence grades based on the quality and consistency of published research, with no funding from supplement companies. We use their grading as the backbone of our recommendation engine because it is the most rigorous independent supplement evidence database available.
Can supplements interact with my medications?
Yes, some can. For example, St John's Wort can reduce the effectiveness of certain medications, and high-dose fish oil can affect blood clotting. Always check with a pharmacist or GP before starting a supplement if you take prescription medication, have a chronic condition, or are pregnant.
